Synopsis:
Join Alex Neptune, the boy with the power of the ocean in his hands, on his second adventure – perfect for fans of Percy Jackson and Dragon Realm!
Alex Neptune is struggling to get to grips with his new oceanic powers…so the last thing he needs is Haven Bay being attacked by pirates in a ship made of rubbish. The marauders are hunting for the missing egg of the elusive water dragon – and Alex is determined to reach it first to stop them stealing its power.
Along with friends Zoey and Anil – plus a clumsy seal, a lock-picking hermit crab and some seriously menacing otters – Alex sets out on a treasure hunt to a secret shipwreck where they must face three monstrous challenges.
Indiana Jones meets Pirates of the Caribbean in this ultimate treasure-hunting, puzzle-solving ocean adventure!
Alex Neptune: Pirate Hunter is the second book in the Alex Neptune series and its even better than the first one! I loved every second of it, Pirate Hunter is an adventure from start to finish. The synopsis dubbed it a combo of Indiana Jones and Pirates of the Caribbean and it’s a spot on comparison, which is probably one of the reasons I enjoyed it so much.
The Water Dragon’s egg is still missing, Callis is dead. Though that doesn’t stop pirates from attacking Haven’s Bay to get it, leading Alex, Zoey and Anil on adventure to find the egg before they do and return it to the dragon. I probably said this in my review of Dragon Thief, but it still stands, I love the friendship between Alex, Zoey and Anil and their friendship with the local sealife. My new favourite is Loaf, I love Loaf! Always comes along at the right moment and always makes me laugh. I would also love some otter friends, they’re adorable! Some familiar faces also make an appearance but I’m not going to spoil the surprise. The character development is well written, Alex has really grown into his powers and role in protecting the ocean. I love everything about this book and cannot recommend it enough. I’ll be pushing it into everyone’s hands at every opportunity. You need to read this series!
Pirate Hunter is unputdownable from the very first page, I tore through it on the edge of my seat. I’m glad the third book is coming in July because I’m desperate to find out what happens next!
