Synopsis from Goodreads:

THE BOOK OF SECRETS OPENS SEPTEMBER 2022

‘When the fairies arrived in Clonbridge town, the wind changed direction.’

For the first time in over fifty years, the Trooping Fairies arrive in the small town of Clonbridge for their annual revels. Their arrival awakens other creatures, who have mischief and chaos in mind. Cat Donnelly and her friends spend their final day of school before midterm break swapping scary stories and planning the
ultimate trick-or-treating strategy. But with the Fairies back in town, this Halloween will be one where Cat has to face real danger and use all her wits and bravery to save those she loves.

‘The whole world had turned upside down and she needed to fix it.’

The Book of Secrets has got to be one of my favourite books I’ve read this year! Fairies, magic, adventure and friendship set during Halloween. What’s not to love? I was hooked from start to finish, finding ways to sneak off to read another chapter. Anyone who knows me will know how much I love all things fairies and fae, making this the perfect read for me. I was not disappointed and even came across a couple I hadn’t heard of. My personal favourite is the Pooka, I’m particularly fond of the tricksters and he definitely ticks that box. You’ll love him, trust me.

I love the setting, not only the village, but it being Halloween too. It really adds to the atmosphere, especially when weird things start happening around Cat. I couldn’t get enough of Cat’s interactions with the fairies, from the Clurichaun and Pooka to The Coachman, my eyes were glued to the pages, desperate to find out what happens next. Do Cat and Shane get their brother and sister back? Will they bargain their way out of the fairy court? It was all so intense, I loved it! Just writing this review makes me want to reread it. I love Cat’s relationship with her grandmother and the bond they share. Her grandmother has taught her everything she knows about fairies, which helps her a lot along the way. I don’t want to give too much away because of spoilers, definitely give this one a read, it’s awesome!
