LOCK EVERY DOOR

Tom’s family have moved into their dream home. But pretty soon he starts to notice that something is very wrong – there are strange messages written on the wall and locks on the bedroom doors. On the OUTSIDE.

The previous owners have moved just across the road and they seem like the perfect family. Their daughter Amy is beautiful and enigmatic but Tom is sure she’s got something to hide. And he isn’t going to stop until he finds the truth behind those locked doors. . .

Will their dream home become a nightmare?

Trigger Warning:

  • Kidnap
  • Physical and emotional abuse
  • Death
  • Violence
  • OCD & Anxiety

Looking for a new gripping read? Look no further than Lock the Doors! When I say this book is unputdownable, I mean unputdownable. From the first page I was hooked, all I could think about was finding out what happened. Why were there locks on the outside of the bedroom doors? Why was there something off about the previous owners? Why did they only move to the other side of the road? So many questions I needed answers to. Tom, the protagonist has anxiety and OCD, I thought this was handled really well. Anxiety and OCD affects everyone differently, as someone with both I thought it was very well and sensitively done.

Things start getting weird when Tom finds holes on the outside of his bedroom door that look like ones left behind after a lock was removed. Things get even weirder when Tom meets Amy, who lived in the house before him. Determined to get to the bottom of things, Tom starts digging and uncovers their dark secrets. I had a few guesses, I was mostly wrong. I didn’t see half of it coming. It’s brilliant in every sense of the word!

Overall I loved Lock the Doors, it has all the key elements that make an excellent thriller. I tore through this, unable to tear my eyes away from the pages for even a second. I want to throw all the stars at this one, it’s perfect for anyone who loves YA thrillers!
