Synopsis from Goodreads:
An utterly addictive and twisty thriller, full of dark family secrets and deadly stakes. Perfect for fans of One of Us is Lying and Knives Out.
She came from nothing.
Avery has a plan: keep her head down, work hard for a better future.
Then an eccentric billionaire dies, leaving her almost his entire fortune. And no one, least of all Avery, knows why.
They had everything.
Now she must move into the mansion she’s inherited.
It’s filled with secrets and codes, and the old man’s surviving relatives –
a family hell-bent on discovering why Avery got ‘their’ money.
Now there’s only one rule: winner takes all.
Soon she is caught in a deadly game that everyone in this strange family is playing.
But just how far will they go to keep their fortune?
I’d seen US bloggers rave about this, so when the email dropped in my inbox I jumped at the chance to join the blog tour. What a ride this was! The Inheritance Games had me hooked from the very first page, I wanted something gripping, that would keep me guessing every step of the way and The Inheritance Games well and truly delivered. I absolutely adored it!
The concept instantly drew me in and kept me hooked from start to finish. I could not put it down. A billionaire leaving the majority of his wealth to a random teenager he’s never met, throw in riddles, a game Avery and the Hawthorne brothers are determined to solve, twists and danger and you have one hell of a book! Seriously, OMG! I don’t even know how to review this one properly, it’s that good! Every time I thought I had things worked out, another twist lurked on the next page to completely throw me off the scent.
Jennifer Lynn Barnes is an incredible storyteller, the writimg, plot and characters are so well written and woven together I didn’t want it to end. I know no book is perfect, The Inheritance Games is as close to perfect as you can get. It’s just, wow! Every year I pick a book I’ve loved to gift come the holiday season and this is it, honestly I just want to push it into everyone’s hands and gush about it! I can’t put into words just how much I loved it!
The Inheritance Games is intriguing, clever and completely unputdownable! I’m impatiently awaiting the next book.
