Happy Sunday Book Dragons!
It’s Sunday, and I’m back on board after missing last week’s prompt. This weekly prompt was started by alittlebutalot, their blog is awesome and definitely worth checking out. This week is an excellent one, I mean, who doesn’t love a good book cover?! I’ve chosen a mixture of types of covers and covers that are my favourite.
1) Foil cover under the dustjacket:
I can’t express how much I love hidden covers under the dustjackets, it doesn’t matter if they’re elaborate or understated, I love them all. King of Scars by Leigh Bardugo is a favourite though, just look at it!
2) Snake covers:
I know this trend got old very quickly, I love all the snakey covers though! They’re intriguing and I love trying to guess the meaning behind them.
3) Rainbow covers:
Rainbow covers are some of my favourite. I’m name dropping The Fallen Children here, we all saw it coming. This book was published 360 different colours, it’s brilliant! I get the aesthetically pleasing rainbow effect on my shelves without having to spilt series. This is one of my all-time favourite covers.
4) Gumiho: Wicked Fox by Kat Cho:
I still cannot get over how gorgeous this cover is! I love the colour scheme, design and the overall aesthetic. Covers with characters on are also some of my favourites. I can’t wait to see what the cover of Vicious Spirits looks like.
5) Hold Back the Tide by Melinda Salisbury:
This cover is stunning, and became an instant favourite of mine. The scenery, atmosphere and the blood swirling in the water. From what I’ve heard about the book I think it’s a fitting cover, which makes it even better.
6) The Beautiful by Renée Ahdieh:
This cover is so beautiful, it’s the perfect example of ‘less is more’. So much was conveyed with just a goblet and rose petals. I wish posters were available to buy. This was one of my favourite covers last year.
So these are my choices, any you agree or disagree with? What books would be on your list?
