General bookish fun, Monthly TBR

Monthly TBR: January

Happy Weekend, book dragons!

I’m starting the year as I mean to go on, by reading all the books! I fail epically when it comes to planned TBRs, so I’ve decided to make it more manageable this year by choosing four books each month. I’ll then use the rest of the month to choose books based on my mood, as a mood reader I’m hoping this help combat those annoying reading slumps.

I hope you enjoy!

The excitement for this is real. I couldn’t believe my luck when I received a proof from the lovely people at Bloomsbury and been excited to read it ever since. Beneath the manor protagonist, Maddie is staying at are doorways to hidden worlds. What’s not to love? Havenfall sounds right up my street and I have a feeling I’ll love it.

I was sold from the moment I heard there was LGBTQ+ rep and my favourite, zombies! Stripes kindly sent me a free review copy and I’ve been impatiently waiting to devour it. I started this one last night and I’m loving it so far! It’s full of tense moments that had me on the edge of my seat, or nearly dropping it in the bath.

I jumped at the chance to review this when the email first dropped in my inbox. Not only does it sound like a great read, I’m a huge fan of both author’s work in TV & Film. Huge thanks to the lovely people at Chicken House for sending me a free review copy, I can’t wait to start it!

I’ve been desperate to read this since I picked up my copy from Waterstones. I loved the last two books and I’m both excited and scared to find out how it all ends. If it’s anything like the previous books I know it will be amazing! Keep an eye out for my review later this month.

Which book are on your TBR? Anything you think I should add to mine? Let me know in the comments!

  1. I’m doing something similar with my TBR! I’m picking a few backlist ARC’s to read and review for the month, and then letting my mood guide me to whatever is unread on my bookshelves. I hope we can both avoid as many slumps as possible this year!

  2. I think reading when you’re in the mood is best. There are times when I want to do nothing else but plunge into a new book and those are times that I read and really take my time with it, absorbing every word and even reading back over passages if I feel like I kind of zoned out for a bit. That’s when I get the best comprehension down and it’s awesome. Good luck with your reading and reviews! Happy 2020!
