Hello!
Christmas Day is nearly here and I still haven’t finished my shopping. I did a book haul post recently, it got quite long so I decided to split it between two posts. I’ve received and picked up some brilliant books this month that I can’t wait to read!
Happy reading!
The Queen of Nothing by Holly Black:
I picked up the Waterstones exclusive edition, which has letters Cardan sent to Jude at the back of the book. I love these books, I’ll be sad to finish the trilogy but equally excited to start reading it and find out how it ends.
I was sent this by the lovely people at Simon and Schuster. I’m so behind I haven’t read Slayer yet, both are set in the Buffy universe and I never say no to vampires. I think a marathon read might be in order after Christmas, I’m so ready for it!
Wranglestone by Darren Charlton:
Set in a post apocalyptic America with zombies and LGBTQ+ characters, I was sold from the start and practically squealed from excitement when Stripes sent me a review copy. For someone who loves zombies I haven’t read that many, I have a good feeling about Wranglestone.
American Royals by Katherine McGee:
I haven’t heard much about this one. Copies were available at the Penguin Platform Christmas party earlier this week, after reading the synopsis I decided to bring one home with me to try. I’m a sucker for a book with a royal family in, I can’t wait to read it!
The Night Circus by Erin Morgenstern:
I picked this up at the Penguin Platform Christmas party too, so many people rave about this book, I’m not even sure why I haven’t read it. It’s about time I change this, I’m hoping to get to this in January if I don’t manage to over Christmas. I’m not sure what to expect, I know I’m excited to get lost in this world!
When I heard about this one I knew it was one to add to my list. Thorn was originally published back in 2012 and is a retelling of The Goose Girl. I love retellings and Grimm Fairytales, I can’t tell you how excited I am to read it. Huge thanks to Hot Key Books for sending me a free review copy.
Anyone who knows me will know how much I love Stephen King. Carrie is one I still haven’t read so I was thrilled when my secret santa chose it for me. I’m familiar with the story having watched a film adaptation, I can’t wait to read the story as it was originally intended.
A Very Large Expanse of Sea by Tahereh Mafi:
This was the second book my secret santa chose for me, I’ve heard brilliant things about this book. I don’t know much about it, it came highly recommended by poc/own voices bloggers so I added it to my wishlist. I’m looking forward to giving it a read in the new year.
