Favourite Things about being a UKYA author.
- I love meeting readers either online or in person and being part of the UKYA community means I get loads of opportunity for this. It means an incredible amount to me when someone gets in touch to say one of my books has helped them feel less alone.
- School visits. I really love going into schools and speaking to students. Even when they’re a bit unsure to start with, they end up producing wonderful work when we do writing workshops, which I find so inspiring. I never got the chance to meet any authors until I became one myself so I like going into schools and chatting to students.
- Twitter chats! Whenever I manage to make one, I’m always struck by people’s passion and enthusiasm and it really gives me a boost, plus tonnes of new book recommendations.
- The books. I feel UKYA has some of the most exciting and inspiring writing around. It’s a huge privilege to be part of the community.
