Synopsis from Goodreads:

The brand-new sunny, funny, feel-good rom com from bestselling Beth Garrod, perfect for fans of TO ALL THE BOYS I’VE LOVED BEFORE and THE KISSING BOOTH. Meg had a disastrous first kiss she would rather forget, but this is the summer she puts it behind her. This is the summer she has a perfect, swoony, just-like-in-the-movies kiss with a hot boy – and what better setting than the sun-drenched Greek island she’s holidaying on? But with three very different boys vying for her attention, this mission to reset her first kiss may be more complicated than she bargained for…

I loved the Awkward books and jumped at the chance to read Beth Garrod’s latest offering.

Characters:

Take a Chance on Me is full of brilliant characters and set on a movie set on Greek island! What’s not to love? You have Meg, awkward, funny and so relatable. Best friend, Neet, who is the absolute best. Meg’s little sister, Olive, who is obsessed with mega movie star TJ, oozes confidence and is completely brilliant! And TJ himself, lead actor in the movie Meg’s dad is working on. I really could go on, I don’t want to spoil everything. It’s rare to find a book full of incredible characters you adore, this is one of them for me. There isn’t a single character I don’t love. The character development is incredibly well written, I couldn’t get enough of the relationships and bond between them. My favourite thing though? Meg’s and Olive’s parents are present, I can’t tell you how much I love that!

Plot:

The plot mainly centres around their trip to Greece where Meg and Olive spend two weeks on the set and beautiful beaches surrounding their apartment. There’s so much going on, from her mission to have the perfect kiss, with many embarrassing moments along the way, to the new and unlikely friendships Meg forges during her time there. Will Meg get her swoony kiss? You’ll have to wait and see…

Overall thoughts:

Overall I loved it! Take a Chance on Me is the perfect summer read, it has everything you could possibly want from a funny contemporary book. I now want to go live on a Greek island and lie on the beach all day, I defy you to read this without a smile on your face, it’s not possible. If you enjoyed the Awkward books, you’ll love Take a Chance on Me!
