Event, General bookish fun

Event: The Twisted Tree Proof Party

I was invited to Hot Key Books All Hallows Eve proof party, hosted at their office on Wimpole Street. I read an E-ARC recently and jumped at the chance to attend, especially as Rachel Burge would be there.

IMG_x5xvyv.jpgThe first portion of the event consisted of Rachel talking about The Twisted Tree, the inspiration behind it, the writing process and being mentored by fellow author Lee Weatherly. Norse mythology plays a huge part in the book and it was fascinating hearing Rachel talk about it and how it was woven into the story. I could have listened to her talk about it all night. Rachel then read an extract from the book, it was even better second time around. I need to reread it ASAP, will definitely try and squeeze it in before diving into my Christmas books! I highly recommend reading it!

IMG_w42r17.jpgAfterwards, Maddy Elruna, Shaman and tarot reader then came up to talk a little bit about herself, tarot and her belief in Odin. I’ve always been a skeptic when it comes to this and I don’t believe in gods either, so it was something I was eager to listen to and surprisingly found it all incredibly interesting, especially the significance of each tarot card she showed us.

After this we had the chance to chat to Rachel and other bloggers. Rachel was so lovely and friendly, it was a pleasure to meet her. There was also the chance to get a three card tarot reading during this time too, which was fun and we got to pick a card from the table to keep aswell.

I had so much fun at this event, thank you Rachel, Maddy, and all at Hot Key Books for a fantastic evening! If you head over to Twitter I am running a giveaway where you can win a proof, courtesy of the lovely people at Hot Key Books! Trust me, you need this book in your life.
