Hello!
I’m sorry I haven’t posted in a while, it’s been so hectic in the run up to YALC so I wasn’t able to put something together to go up over the weekend. Today I have a post of some of my highlights of July, I hope you enjoy!
Events:
The Storm Keeper’s Island launch event: I love Cat’s Blood For Blood trilogy and was equally excited to read her debut middle grade book, which is amazing so far!
The Secret Garden MinaLima launch:
These are some of my favourite launch parties, as they’re hosted in the MinaLima shop and always beautifully decorated. They were also unveiling the new classics gallery, I highly recommend going along to check it out. Copies are available exclusively through them until it’s official release in September. I have written a post about this event which you can find here. Not only was there one gorgeous MinaLima prints of each illustrated classic in our goodie bag, a copy of the book was also included. I can’t wait to read it.
A Sky Painted Gold launch party:
I went along to the launch of A Shy Painted Gold be Laura Wood, It was a wonderful evening full of bookish fun and Laura was a delight to meet. I can’t wait to finish reading it.
YA Prom:
We all know how much I adore Katherine Webber’s books so I couldn’t miss her prom themed launch for the Incredible Only Love Can Break Your Heart. I went along with my book babes Ana and Harriet and had so much fun! We all got goodie bags and gorgeous custom pins were included along with some awesome book swag. I also got to meet some wonderful YA authors too, who kindly signed my books. I definitely think YA Prom should become an annual thing. My review of Only Lo ve Can Break Your Heart can be found here.
Jinxed launch party:
I was I voted to the launch of the Incredible Jinxed launch, I had a wonderful time. Amy baked some delicious Jinx shaped biscuits, I’m still thinking about them now. It was lovely to meet Amy and chat. My Jinxed review will be up shortly and I have an interview with her going up on August 7 as part of the blog tour, I can’t wait to share it with you.
Pre YALC event in Forbidden Planet:
This event was so much fun. Sara Holland, David Owen, Matt Killeen, Sif Sigmarsdottir, Taran Matharu, Kristina Perez and Josh Martin popped in for an evening of chat, drinks and book signing ahead of YALC. I met Sara, Matt, Kristina and Sif and got my books signed. David also have me a sampler of his upcoming book All the Lonely People, I read it on my way home and I think it might be even better than The Fallen Children.
YALC:
Despite many setbacks and general poor organisation on some days, I had a wonderful weekend at YALC and got to meet the lovely Hayley Barker one of my favorite parts of the weekend, I adore her books. My full write-up will be up within the next week or so. I met lots of awesome bookish people and left with some brilliant books and swag, too. I can’t wait to go back next year.
Blog tours:
Blog tour: Wrecker by Noel O’Reilly
Blog tour: Floored: Five Thoughts While Reading…
What I’ve read:
I haven’t read many books as Jinxed caused a huge book hangover, I haven’t done too badly though.
Jinxed by Any McCullough
super Awkward by Beth Garrod
Show Stealer by Hayley Barker
Orphan Monster Spy by Matt Killeen – CR

Wow you have been a busy bee! I hope they make YA Prom an annual thing as I would love to be able to go next year! It’s a shame that there were organisational problems for YALC, I have seen a few people comment, I’m glad that you had a wonderful time though! I hope I can go next year. Who did you enjoy meeting the most? 🙂
