Event: Hero at the Fall launch

January 25th I went along to Alwyn Hamilton’s launch for Hero at the Fall, the last book in the epic Rebel of the Sands trilogy. I love these books so there was no way I was missing it. There was wine, cupcakes with fan artwork on and awesome Hero at the Fall goody bags. The bags included postcards, pin badges and four short stories exclusive to the two London launch events.

Before the event started you could play tin can shooting while you were queuing. The event was chaired by Samantha Shannon, author of The Bone Season and upcoming Priory of the Orange Tree. Alwyn talked about Hero, previous books and a little about her next book. At the end of the talk there was time for us to ask some questions and nice red Hero totes for those that did. I don’t usually ask any because of my anxiety and talking in front of so many people, this time I managed to ask one and was really proud of myself. I asked if the death at the end of Traitor was planned. Alwyn said it was planned and the character was brought in for that purpose. I won’t lie, it made me cry.

After the talk and Q&A Alwyn and Samantha signed books for everyone. Alan very kindly signed my copy of Hero, short stories and my red tote. I had so much fun, thank you Alwyn, Samantha and everyone at Faber and Waterstones for an awesome evening.
