Twelve Days of Christmas: Waterstones Christmas customer evening

Today is day four of my twelve days of Christmas posts and I’m sharing a quick write up of a recent christmassy event I went to in Waterstones, I had so much fun!

Last week was the annual Christmas customer evening in Waterstones Piccadilly, an evening of authors, wine and festively bookish fun! I knew I had to go as soon as Stephen Fry was announced, I am a massive fan so there was no way I was missing the chance to finally meet him. Over the next few weeks authors and Illustrators  such as Chris Riddle, Alex T Smith, Jim Kay, Alan Lee and Giovanna Fletcher were also announced.

D32A0BCE-4B2F-4135-87A4-9835B021D2C7This was my first time going so I didn’t really know what to expect. I spent the first part of the evening in the queue to meet Stephen Fry as his signing was strictly limited to 150 people. Stephen was so jovial and is such a lovely person, I’m glad I got the chance to meet him and get my copy of Mythos signed. I then went down to Children’s and YA to go and see the wonderful Chris Riddell, who kindly signed my copy of Mr Underbed and told me the story of how it came to be. I also popped along to say hi to Alex T Smith and get a copy of Santa Claude signed and had a lovely chat about our dogs and various other furry/feathery family members. Alex also signed the book to our dog, Jasmine and gave me a couple of signed prints.

I then met up with Ana, her friend Andreia and Harriet, went in search of some wine and swapped some books and bookish goodies. I had awesome evening, thank you so much to everyone who put together a fabulous and festive evening. I can’t wait for next years.

Before I got on the bus to go home I went and had a look at the beautiful Christmas lights, the angels are definitely my favourite!

I hope you enjoyed this post, see you tomorrow for day five!
