Review: The Scarecrow Queen by Melinda Salisbury

Synopsis is from Goodreads.

“The final battle is coming . . .

As the Sleeping Prince tightens his hold on Lormere and Tregellan, the net closes in on the ragged band of rebels trying desperately to defeat him. Twylla and Errin are separated, isolated, and running out of time. The final battle is coming, and Aurek will stop at nothing to keep the throne forever . . .

Explosive, rich and darkly addictive, this is the stunning conclusion to Mel Salisbury’s internationally best-selling trilogy that began with The Sin Eater’s Daughter.”

My rating:

I have been a huge fan of The Sin Eater’s Daughter trilogy from the start, so The Scarecrow Queen is definitely my most anticipated 2017 release and trust me, I was not disappointed! No one creates worlds and bad guys that keep you up all night quite like Mel – who doesn’t love Aurek, right?!

The Scarecrow Queen is the epic conclusion to the bestselling The Sin Eater’s Daughter trilogy.  I was lucky enough to get a copy early at one of Melinda Salisbury’s recent events. From the first page I was (unsurprisingly) hooked, for me it was the perfect ending to a wonderful story, it’s bigger, bolder and darker than the first two books. The character and plot development is brilliantly written and leaves you questioning where loyalties truly lie. Without spoiling too much, I particularly enjoyed a certain characters redemption element, it’s acknowledged without disregarding their past actions or the consequences. Mel does a fantastic job of tying up the story in her trademark Evil Queen fashion, crushing the hearts of all in her path while giving some their happy endings (definitely didn’t see that coming!) that leaves you both satisfied and wanting more. I’m still hoping we’ll get to revisit this world one day. The Sin Eater’s Daughter trilogy is a must read for any bookworm!

The Scarecrow Queen by Melinda Salisbury is published by Scholastic March 2nd (UK)
